    Why choose Callan Studios?
Project Support: We don't just "make a recording" – Jim Armour will be there to provide advice and fully support the project from start to finish to make sure it is an enjoyable, educational and financially profitable experience for the choir.
Experience: Our experience in the field will guide you to make the highest quality recording. After your recording we will produce a demonstration CD of your fully mixed recording and cover artwork and invite you to ask us to make any changes to make sure it suits your choir's needs.

    Practice CDs   Overview:
Imagine getting a whole SATB choir to learn a new piece of music in a week. Imagine that each singer can practice on their own during the week in a way that simulates practicing with the whole choir with accompaniment. Imagine the whole of a choir's repertoire on a (set of) CD(s). New members may be brought up to speed very quickly, whether or not they read music. The only technology they need is a CD player.
As well as creating a CD for each vocal part an accompaniment CD may also be created for use during rehearsals.
        Endorsements:
Archie Simpson, Musical Director of the Lismorahaun Singers and recently featured in the RTÉ programme "Townlands", says of the product - "The whole choir now use these CDs to learn their repertoire and they are especially useful for new members. They made an incredible difference to our learning of the Mozart Requiem. I can't praise them enough." The Lismorahaun Singers are members of the Association of Irish Choirs (AOIC).
Maureen Brown, President and previous Musical Director of the Ennistymon Choral Society, says of the product - "These CDs are an invaluable aid to Musical Directors and members of musical societies for learning purposes generally. They are particularly useful for people who are new to part singing." The Ennistymon Choral Society are members of the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS).
        How it works:
Normally, when all parts are played together, e.g. on a commercial concert recording, it is very difficult to clearly identify "your part" from "the others". Callan Studios have developed the optimal way to separate out the part to be learned, e.g. Alto in a SATB arrangement, from the others and playing it so that it is easy to follow. The psychoacoustic act of spatially separating out the parts across the stereo field greatly enhances the learning experience.
A look at the image below shows how the singer hears their CD. Their part comes out clearly over the right-hand speaker, the other parts come out of the left-hand speaker but at a much reduced volume. The accompaniment, as either a piano or organ sound, comes out of both speakers equally and so appears to come from the centre.
