| The
course gives students an overview of the techniques and
equipment used in the recording of music and speech right up
to producing it onto final media, e.g. CD. It is aimed at a
range of students as it covers the subject from the point of
view of the engineer as well as the musician. The student
will learn some theory and then, soon after, have to put
that theory into practice. |
The
course consists of 8 sessions alternating between 2 sessions
of theory and 2 sessions of practical work. Working
collaboratively, the group will record a selection of 3 or 4
tunes and songs of different styles depending on the makeup
of the class. This will be developed as far as producing a
CD of their tunes during the final sessions.
The process will
challenge students of varying abilities to work together
dynamically and will test their skills in the art of
listening, experimentation, revision of work and the joy of
discovering their hidden talents. The whole experience will
allow students the opportunity to develop their music as
well as their technical expertise. Skill-mixing and active
participation of all students are key components which will
engage the students throughout the process. They will also
have the final product of the CD as a tangible output of
their work.
Callan Studios will
provide all the recording equipment needed for use by the
students. We have portable, modern and user friendly
facilities. |
